Today's macabre little masterpiece is Burn, Witch, Burn by Abraham Merritt

Originally published in 1933, this engaging thriller is a fast paced, suspenseful witch's brew of gangsters, black magic and deadly demonic dolls set during the Prohibition that delivers a worse case of the DTs than an weekend imbibing bathtub bourbon.

Trivia Tidbit: Burn, Witch, Burn was filmed in 1936 by Tod "Freaks" Browning as The Devil Doll, and featured a cross-dressing Lionel Barrymore as the witch.
